On Ebay, most sellers seem to doctor their photos.

Gee, those were originally quite important omissions (referring now to eBay) (and prior error, now using the term sellers instead of dealers). The two fixes are appreciated!

Even “On eBay, most sellers” sounds largely exaggerated to me. On the other hand, “many” or “lots of” would be fair/accurate.

Mark - I fully agree, but at least he admitted changes needed to be made to his broad inaccurate statement.

OK. Sellers, not necessarily dealers. Glad you corrected yourself somewhat.

Perhaps many rather than most. Am I imagining things? You decide:

I am certain it is me, but I don't understand the point or the Proof proffer being offered by the 3 links (I did read).

My random sampling of 10 Ebay dealers (actual dealers) of PCGS $20 Libs/Saints suggests that six significantly enhance their images (60%). Feel free to do your own sampling.

The point of my OP is that coastcoin does absolutely NO enhancing whatsoever, a testament to their integrity. They would rather post dark images of bright coins than even hint that they are trying to be deceptive.

I suppose that any dealer who posts TruViews is using enhanced images. Oops, that makes me guilty as charged.
  • I understand the intent now. Not being a photographic expert, I can not verify one way or another. I simply wanted to know the reason for the 3 links. You explained, and I thank you.

I have seen his/her listings and found the pricing to be quite unrealistic so I skip looking at them anymore.

the fact is I believe many of these do not belong to the dealer .. they had one of mine posted for sale 9 months after I had acquired it ( from Heritage not them). Dreamtrophy had it listed for 3 times the price. I reported dreamtrophy to ebay and the listing was ended the next day. I then noted several other very distinctive pieces and noted they were listed on Collector Corner (at 1/2 the price). I notified the CC owner and they thank me and they, likewise, contacted ebay. Dreamtrophy was using the exact posted images without permission and also for offering to sell items they did not have .
Does dreamtrophy own ANY of his listed coins, other than the extremely cheap ones? My random checks suggest that every $500-plus coin that he lists is listed somewhere else for a considerably lower price.
Dream trophy likes to capture images from the Apmex site of newly listed coins. They list them on eBay as well, but it takes several days for the images to actually show on eBay. In the meantime, dreamtrophy tries to sell them for around a 100% markup from the Apmex price. I guess it only has to work once in a blue moon to be worth it.

If he is, which I seriously doubt, I’d be shocked if he were to tell you. He’s made it clear that he wants to keep his identity a secret.

I was hoping I’d trip him into saying something.  Lol

Anonymity allows one to behave in such a manner that they’d never behave in if their name was attached to everything they said.
