Pony Express was faster. My postal history covers suggest consistent one day delivery within several hundred miles. In the 1800's, each mailing was postmarked by the sending and receiving post offices.
My covers prove that delivery from New York to Chicago was accomplished in one day for one cent. Now, it takes seven days to travel 30 miles via "one day" Express Mail for $30, judging by a recent shipment.
Three thousand times more expensive for delivery that takes seven times longer. Cutting edge technology in action. Or maybe just lazy, overpaid postal employees.

Thank You for the education, though.
