For those who collect toners, particularly common dates with not so common color (like a high end/monster toned 1881-S Morgan in MS 64), how much of a role does CAC play? What kind of premium does the sticker bring?
Here’s a comparison 1922 Peace $- very common Price guide in MS 66 $750 Price guide in MS 65+ $270
In back to back Legend Regency auctions these sold for the following:
MS66 NO CAC $5052
MS65+ CAC $5405
That is a good comparison of two fairly similar coins. I'm not sure that I particularly like either coin but it does appear that someone bid up the 65+ based on the sticker (color isn't much better on it and both have some crust/dirt around the rims that I would consider a net negative).
