Feasibility of CAC option thru grading companies

I know it sounds crazy but what kind if issues and logistics could arise should CAC partner with the grading companies as an option to send coins freshly graded directly to CAC at the request of the customer?

  • It sounds like a potential mess and headache that neither NGC, PCGS nor CAC would have interest in.

    Agree and it'll never happen.
  • That would be tantamount to the TPG saying, "Our opinion, in itself, is just not good enough."
  • I see no upside for a TPG or CAC, just more work, problems, and costs for any TPG. There is no upside for CAC as they are having difficulty keeping up with the flow of work as it is. Only collectors that do not have direct submission ability might benefit if they do not have a local dealer who will submit for them, which seems like a very small number of the collectors that submit to a TPG.
  • Thanks for the reply. Makes sense!
  • Hey! Everyone so far is completely ignoring that auction houses will submit coins directly to CAC on behalf of their consignors! Admittedly not an apples to apples comparison, but the logistic issues are darn close to what the OP is asking, and that works fine!

  • Isn’t poor JA swamped enough? CAC has had to suspend the normal tier twice now because of a backup and your plan would only make this worse. As Mark points out, it would be a logistical nightmare and increase the risk of loss (read as liability and $$$).
