Gold Box of 20 Or General Box of 20 💡 ideas?

  What do you all think about a  Gold Box of 20 ?   

 What would your box of 20 contain?

I‘m not big on silver items but if anyone wants to toss in some ideas on a general box of 20 containing anything that would be welcome.

 Ordering a High Relief CAC Saint yesterday and having completed a CAC 12 coin gold type set , I thought a good start .  Thus the question looking for ideas 💡 


If you want we can make this all CAC sets .

    20. Wild Card - Territorial, commem, tougher early type, rare date, toner, proof, branch mint coin, or whatever you like.  Lots of options.
     
    I am a gold type collector.  I've been working on this set in the registry: "Gold type set, circulation strikes (1795-1933)".  It has 36 coins total. I think the above 20 are a nice representative group.  I left out some of the tougher or more expensive coins like the small eagle $5/$10, early $2.5's.

    I didn’t realize it until I actually started looking at the list but as a type collector I already have 13 of the 18 categories from CoinFacts, and all have CAC approval, so I think I might just have a go at completing this list myself! I’m missing the little ones- the $, the early $2.5’s- because I really prefer bigger coins. Another idea for the wild card could be a Humbert slug or Pan-Pac $50.

    I personally like your original idea,  box of 20 all 66+ saints.  It is different than a set, unique. Random years ect.. very cool!
       Take your time and pick nice/ better looking CAC coins and for a good price, but skip a couple so that I can buy one or two!🙂

     I struggled with buying the $1 gold etc as I too prefer big gold coins .   I like you also have an all CAC 12 coin set and a HR Saint on the way.   I wonder if your 13 are suitable though…. IE:  You actually have $1 gold in types 1,2 & 3 ?   If so we’ll / I’ll need more then 5

     I think my brain shut down for the evening lol

    Trying to get my head around your proposed set ideas 

    PS I reread your post.  You don’t have dupes

    This is a separate idea.   Good 66+ Saints are getting thin it seems lately.    There are 5 I’m bidding on now at GC, but I’m thinking 2 are what I want , the others not so much.

     And I am not seeing any bargains or deals lately .

     When you’re ready I’ll put some up for you to bid on at GC 😉

    I wouldn't decide ahead of time, which coins to pursue. Instead, I'd let the coins come to me, talk to me and tell me which ones to buy (because I loved them). I feel like too many collectors limit themselves unnecessarily, in terms of options and possibilities for their collections.

    I totally agree- and in the beginning that may make a collection look a little random, but over time it all starts to come together to form a nice consistent beautiful collection of coins you love and have meaning to you

    This is something I have done without really trying. One of the searches I do on eBay is ‘Cac’ and then I filter results by newly listed and then the coin series I am interested in. On one search the newest CAC coin listed was an 1836 half dime which spoke to me so I bought it and ended up completing a date set around it. A box of 20 coins that made you pause will always be pleasing.

     Thats great advice actually .  Too often I get an idea in my head then go on a mission .

     I need to start buying coins I like !

    Seems to me that "random" is the reason.
    No one can expect to have it all. I once had a customer who collected WORLD by date. :o
    He may have had a CLOSET of TWENTY.
    20 Shoeboxes full. Attributed, 2x2'ed, sorted.
    And he LOVED it! :)

    Personally, my "box of 105" ...or so... :D is a conglomeration of coins that I see, want, and buy.

    I understand a box of 20 of gold pieces preference. The suggestion request did not preclude other also rans, and accordingly, I would be in favor of adding the 1836 RE Half, if the box would have a few open slots for other stuff. Where would we be without that Steam Press, and the problems before that, for the Mint?

    Since you like SG 20's, go find an Omega high relief counterfeit in high grade? A beautiful coin with a story, rarer than the real deal, that you can keep raw and hand around to friends?

    I LOVE that $2.5 1802/1 SUPER RARE. You all should just buy what you like. You can do that w/a Type set
