I’m impressed with his scholarly acquisition research.
As am I. I'm of the impression that Elite runs nearly all of his collecting himself (with a few advisors and help searching), rather than someone like DLH who has someone else do a lot a lot o…
Sadly Mr Elite, you are in my orbit. So its not hard to know what super secret set you are building. Maybe one day, you'll just chill and build an every mans set in AU58.....
Maybe I missed it, how often do you look at your coins? I understand if y…
It's amazing how much you can come up with by combing through past APR's, photos, catalogues, etc. That's the kind of digging that can be fascinating if you don't mind putting in the effort. Definitely much easier with the internet than it used to…
Oh well. I tried. Eh the super secret set you are building will keep you busy for a while.
I really hope it wasn't the thrill of the chase for you in building that set. It really should be admired. How often to do you view it?
If it's super sec…
Not certain at all, but I would think it would be fairly small amount of resubmissions. For these high grade top pop coins, I would expect it's less likely for people to crack out and resubmit. The vast majority of time, people would submit the coin…
Is there a probability that upgrades are available? I realize there is always a possibility, but Hope is not what I am asking.
There are 57 coins that can upgrade 28 of my coins in the Saints set. Half Dome has 16 of those coins and he's not selli…
Ahhh, too bad your bored Mr Elite. Time to sell! At least you allowed me to play in a lesser series and build the #1 all time $10 set -TWICE (Simpson and Half Dome his is 100% CAC)
If you want to sell your Saints at current market, I'm game! Remind…
I finished my St. Gaudens $20 CAC set. It's the first ever complete set of all CAC saints as far as I know!

I agree that there might be a negative NGC bias towards coins with an L today, but over time this stigma would go away as more and more PCGS/CAC coins are crossed over with an L. I think this problem with fix itself over time, and it doesn't diminis…
Good morning. The “L” designation was incepted to prevent gradeflation in future decades. There’s a long explanation somewhere in an interview I believe. I’ll try to find it and post here. Also - I have personally witnessed in the grading room, man…
@EliteCollection What would you answer if CACG offered to cross your Saint Collection au gratis?
The main reason why I won't cross my coins over is because of the PCGS set registry.
My first saint was a HR also. I got it almost 20 years ago. It was a PCGS MS 62 one.
Bought it for $12k and sold it for $17k 12 years alter. You can see the auction history. https://www.pcgs.com/cert/50085540
Are you going to add any of the varieties? We just certified a 1926 TDO today.
I am actually. I do have a 1926 TDO MS 66+ CAC already. But I'm still missing a 1922 DDR and 1925 DDR.
Really truly insane seeing a complete set like this @EliteCollection , mind boggling coins. Personally your matte proof set is my favorite, seeing them on display was a highlight of my numismatic career, those are worth every penny spent. Now that y…
Going to be very difficult to keep up with all of the CACG sample slabs. I know you can do it EliteCollection.
It's going to be one of the hardest sets to collect!
I would expect most people on this forum agree with your opinion. My point was just that it wasn't strictly and objectively better. (Even without considering the PCGS registry sets)
I agree with almost all of what you say, especially NGC/CAC. However, ignoring the desire for some collectors of the PCGS Registry (like me), in my opinion, I value a PCGS/CAC in a plus grade LESS than a coin that crosses to CACG and retains that pl…
The pop checks out. It shows a pop of 136 and we know there was previously 36 of the 2005-D quarters for Witter U 2023. If someone has a 2005-P Witter U sample, can you check to see if the pop report shows 27?
Speaking of which, I HATE it when with a Heritage auction, the only coin I want is like 300 lots in. It's like 3+ hours of anxiety waiting for and constantly checking to see if it's there yet.
Each auction style has their advantages and disadvantag…
One thing to note. The fact that the winner turned down $100k afterwards means that he likely bid more (maybe a lot more) than that and would have won it even if the auction style was different. So the winner was willing to pay more than your client…
It does seem like an insane situation. The guy really wanted it at all cost it seems.
I don't think the situation is similar to your example of me chasing a 1921 $20 though. If I bid an insane number like $4.5M and lost to someone bidding $10M, I w…
I spoke to Ian. I had a seriously pissed off customer w/the 10C 1907 PR incident. He strongly feels there is no advantage not to close like an Ebay sale. I am shocked at his attitude because he is very smart. His customer missed out on at least $25G…
Thank you Orville. I can relax now.
Coinbert, are you collecting sample slabs also?
What I'm curious about are the IMEX samples which weren't passed out at IMEX. I wonder when those will be given out.
They were sent in the mail to anyone w…
