Mike-
That was quite some sleuthing! I own the MS67 1851 trime. Purchased for a first year of issue type set at the B&M 8/99 ANA Auction. I have enjoyed this "sort of " Knoxville reject for a hard to believe 24 yrs. Mystery solved.
The Knoxv…
Hello,
I will be back tonight with some other comments, but I first wanted to address something here that Nic just wrote.
Nic- I am sorry the Knoxville pedigree was NEVER on any coins when Jay and I were putting together the set, and it is a PHYSI…
@MikePhillips
NGC did include the Knoxville pedigree on the label back in the old fatty holder days. Saw many, own one, though do not know if all coins received such.
PCGS would and does not recognize the provenance.
Thank you for mentioning M…
Some really nice seated dollars guys! I agree with the comment that finding seated dollars with CAC is proving very difficult versus what it used to be years ago.
One of my favorite seated dollars MS64+CAC. Color in hand is amazing.
Whoa!
Does anyone remember the Mack and Brent Pogue Sales of 2015?
All submitted to CAC and many passed. All coins then reholdered, and sold without any beans, because of those that did not pass.
Guessing lots of reasons out there.
I can tell you, most people won't cross PCGS CAC to CACG-the theory is JA graded those coins. They do not know the graders and people think its an "old holder" now. That's why marketing needs to be done. A registry set is only a small part of the an…
This reminds me of the Gobrecht $ arguments. I think they and the cents are all patterns/restrikes/proofs. Not that I know anything.
You have beautiful coins Doug.
Once again I encourage everyone to check out our Instagram to view the contest winning essay coins and some snippets from the essays themselves. Now that I am no longer the one in charge of taking the pictures and editing them, the quality has impro…
Agree with what others have said about including the registry grade.
Just for fun I showed the pic to my son and asked him what it meant. 22yo college IT major home for part of the summer. Exposed to coins his whole life, knows the grading service…
The IS pic of this 17d is beautiful.
The slab shots seem to be provided only for security.
Pic didn't post - got a cert #?
Hi @FlyingAl ,

I believe Chinese counterfeiting will continue to escalate. Most buyers check photos to confirm authenticity, this was our reasoning for choosing the current name. John A
Makes sense. Doubt you would have a problem keeping the current name?
Who said that CACG graders were being told to change their standards?
I want to be crystal clear. I've never heard any thing like that from a CAC grader.
It’s been stated here by CACG, that if they feel a coin is of C quality for the grade, they…
Oh, just in case there are any "educationally challenged snowflakes" reading my post above, "ignorance" is defined as being uninformed about something. For example, I am ignorant about growing hemp.
Hemp is the ICG of the cannabis world. Ju…
