I can tell you from the hard way, that Acetone will remove a really good putty job. I had an expensive Morgan, with what seemed to be a little bit of PVC. (If memory serves, it was an old Anacs Photo Certificate coin. And anyone who owns a bunch, …
It was a pleasure meeting you Alex- and congratulations on the win!

Why would anyone need someone else to bid on a coin for them, at GC? A trained monkey could have punched in 100K as the bid??!! Also, if Ian had cancelled that auction to sell it underhandedly, he would have lost ALL credibility. How foolish to e…

Hi TomB, The 1917-D quarter is pictured in CACG Photography thread or you can look it up. Cert# 195562396 CACG 66+ FH L
The coin is more golden than shown in the photo and very attractive.
That coin is Sweet! Was it PCGS same grade and stick…
I am with Dragon on this one. Never liked the PCGS holders.
I have owned hundreds of GSA's and never had one break apart on it's own. Of course, I don't make it a habit of dropping them from height, on a hard floor.
I have busted a few out an…
Looks like some tight grades! I like it!
Lots of liner coins probably went details in that sub. I wonder if any of them will get cracked and sent to PCGS.
I am quite confident PCGS knows a cleaned coin when they see it. If those cleaned clu…
Looking at many of those coins, they should not have been sent in for grading to begin with. Couple of ms-66 mercy grades on the commems, after all the junk that was graded cleaned.
Just toss them in Acetone for a moment. Problem solved.
I did not know that acetone worked it's way through slabs that show the current grade?
Steve
Hey Steve. Crack them, soak them, and send them! Surprised they have a sticker with PVC o…
A “stigma” is a negative, so “negative stigma” is redundant. That aside, I don’t think a stigma will be attached to CACG Legacy coins that don’t have a “+”.
Certainly doesn’t encourage me to cross any plus/CAC coins- and they look so pretty with the sticker! Btw this is the single highest graded proof Lib $10 for the entire 70 year series.
Hey Florida! Lovely COIN. In the registry set game, you…
If anyone thinks John gives a flying fart about wanting the top pop coins in his holders, you are missing the entire point. He grades the $20 coins that Stevie sends in, the same as Florida Plastic Surgeons amazing coins. If John's Wife threatened…
@Legend Hey Laura, you keep mentioning PCGS grading is very tight. How tight? A full point? More? I assume the crack-out folks are getting downgrades after they crack? Thanks!
Well, here's an example posted by a friend on Instagram last nig…
@noahlh Thanks for that. Not sure what the end game for PCGS is, if they are doing this by design. I would tend to disagree with Laura @Legend that the new CAC grading service is causing this. It simply does not make any sense, at least to me. …

My definition of a cheap coin is one that is about the same price, a grade higher or even 2 grades higher. There are tons of those coins. In addition, any coin you are sending in that you don't think is worth the 35 bucks for a sticker? That is a…
