I suspect those scratches are much more obvious in hand. Are they? Personally I don't think the surface preservation for that grade level would warrant ED unless it's a bit grainier than the pictures.
In hand to the naked…
Thanks for playing fellas. This was my first sub to get a feel for the standards, particularly as it pertained to dark CircCameos since I still enjoy collecting those raw.
I thought if it were going to go details, it would be due to environment…

My sense is every coin that CACG grades/crosses gets three photos: the excellent “Image Secure” photo, AND the two poor slab photos (one obverse, one reverse). I believe when you plug in the CACG cert number, you might initiall…
@Winesteven
Thanks for the callout Steve, I was under the impression that all CACG coins were getting slab shots for the cert (similar to how NGC operates) and that the Image Secure aspect was separate. Is this correct?
I’ve edited my post for n…
Yes, white balance is important for sure. Auto-white balance is not our friend with coin photography.
I’m confident the SLQ in question is indeed toned rose-gold and the camera is properly white balanced.
The photo I saw looked outstanding- I have no issues if they’re shot through the slab if the end-result looks this good. Less raw coin handling on a massive scale would speed things up I would think, along with (hopefully) streamlining the logistic…
I’d like to see at least a “like” button because I often want to show appreciation somehow for members sharing amazing coins, but will not necessarily type out a comment for every single one in a thread.
A smart pivot and the right call I would say. Nice to know one could cross a coin with the potential for a plus without sacrificing the legacy designation.
I sold a toned 66 CAC Franklin half at a show in April and the dealer referenced “bid for a toned 66” which was a welcome revelation to me; I had never heard of such a thing but the offer was good.

Early to me means pre-steam press.
Strictly speaking, I agree… I didn’t want bust halves to be excluded though and there are some jaw-dropping examples in this thread.

Hello everyone! I have not posted in here for a while, I've been very busy lately (for a GREAT reason). I wanted to let you know, that I was brought on board by @CAC_Ops at CAC Grading to setup and run the imaging department. …
Beautiful coins, Bob! @robec1347
That 1852 is gorgeous- Is it also N-22 ? I’ve noticed several gem examples of that die marriage with unusually stellar luster though I’m not versed enough in the series to understand why.
Great bust dollar @EDL - I have its sister though she lived a little harder than yours.
Love the surfaces on your 11/10 @LJenkins11 - great coin and thanks for sharing.
Thanks all. Yes Steve… hard enough to find examples I love for each date, the basic set is enough for me thank you.
I wish more CBH’s on the market had the preservation level of that 1824. It has that “pulled out of grandma’s attic and sent s…

You have a great eye! Not loving the 1834 as much as the others...
Thanks man. My photos aren’t doing it any favors but it is sort of an oddball in the set in terms of the look.
Sight White identifies distraction free white coins. I don’t collect white coins personally, but I can understand the purpose from a wholesale dealer perspective who deal in that sort of material. For example, if you have a white MS63 that is all …
I would prefer there isn’t a reference to the prior TPG (as seems to be the case in the CAC prototype.)
One motivation for crossover (for me at least) is to remove any stigma from the prior holders.
Personally I’d like to be free of the curren…

Here is a mockup I created this evening of what I would love to have seen for a label. I think simply adding an "L" to the end of the serial to designate a Legacy coin from a raw graded coin would be a very simple way of disting…

Hi Mark. I’d say most but not all will receive a plus grade. An extremely dark brown 1921 Peace dollar that is technically a 65 , I believe, wouldn’t make sense as a +. It depends on the series. Thanks JA
This sounds like …
Once the coin upgrades, the gold sticker is no longer indicative of anything. Trying to maintain it after being assigned an appropriate grade seems counterintuitive.
