Good morning. The “L” designation was incepted to prevent gradeflation in future decades. There’s a long explanation somewhere in an interview I believe. I’ll try to find it and post here. Also - I have personally witnessed in the grading room, man…
.. and the following is super helpful to me:

Yep, D. Winter is usually my go-to resource for all things classic gold.

Wow, that's mesmerizing. I don't think I've ever seen one quite like that.
that's also perplexing to me .. how did it tone like that?!?
.. do others think it's unique toning?
Not sure what you find perplexing about…
We’re finalizing this at the moment. It’s highly possible that all gold stickered coins will keep the L. Many have paid 2 points higher for such coins JA
I can't say I disagree, but couldn't the same logic apply to green stickers as well?
Many …
Please note JA has stated in the "CAC pricing discussion" thread that the issue has been corrected and the previous pricing data is populating the current price guide listings.
I saw the same issue as well. Suspect old prices displayed "retail" and new prices are "wholesale" or something similar. Unclear if that was an intentional change or not.
I noticed the same thing yesterday as outlined in this thread I started:
https://forum.cacgrading.com/discussion/949/cac-cacg-pop-price-reports-active#latest
I have a feeling the old price guide was displaying "bid" and now are displaying "ask" or previously "retail" and now "wholesale" or some such. Looks like a couple of threads have also confirmed what you and I have noticed. Hopefully @JACAC or @CAC_…
I wonder how the 06/05/2023 cutoff rule will be enforced.
Will this be done behind the scenes (e.g. a database of when a coin was stickered) or perhaps will the look of CAC stickers be altered post 06/05?
A shameless bump of my own post, but I'm c…

Hrm. As someone who is considering crossing a number of CAC stickered coins to CACG I am not in favor of this move. I understand the decision and respect CACG's ability to set it's own policies but feel this will reduce business for them at least in…
I believe the idea behind the "L" is to be an insurance policy of a sort for a previously stickered coin in the unlikely event that CACG is eventually perceived to be of lower quality/value. I do not think this is a likely outcome, but as a collecto…

The Legacy designation is used for coins that were previously approved by CAC. It's does not identify if a coin was previously graded by PCGS or NGC. What is important is that CAC considered the coin solid for the grade.
As @EliteCollection said “J…
Real simple…green bean gets a green “L” gold bean gets a gold “L”
All CAC stickers deserve the Legacy designation whether coin is upgraded or not because the prior CAC review was consistent by the same grading team!
Hmmm...
A PCGS 55 green CAC u…
I suspect the value of an "L" coin may in time become more than that of a non-L coin from CACG. This leads me to wondering if future CACG-L 63s could be valued higher than CACG 64s (no L), along the lines of how sometimes PCGS 63 CACs sell for more …
One thing to be clear about is that the Legacy designation is used for previously CAC stickered coin. It's not about whether it was previously PCGS or NGC. What matters is that JA has previously considered this coin solid for the grade. As we know J…
Two scenarios here. If it has a "Green" bean then it should not upgrade, but may receive a "+" if deemed to be an "A" coin, then I think it should carry the "L" designation. If it has a "Gold" bean then it should upgrade, and then I think it should …
For CAC OPS, I saw a reference in a thread to 900,000 slabs that did not get beaned. I also saw that CAC does not want to “dilute” the beaned population of coins. I’m wondering how to reconcile these two phenomena. If 900,000 coins are eventually s…
Hi JA,
Thank you for your time in answering all of these questions. You and CAC are top notch.
I have a question about submitting a currently green stickered coin to the new CACG service. You have said a green CAC stickered coin will cross at the s…
